Badger Wrestling
The Badgers wrestled in the District tournament last Wednesday at East View HS. We are proud to announce the Badgers are taking 12 athletes to the Regional tournament in Anna! Each individual had to place in the top 4 in order to advance to Regionals, with 5th place as an alternate.
The girls team placed 1st overall in the District, making it the first time in LHS history that the girls have won the title! They totaled up 119 points, which was 13 points more than the 2nd place team. This was the 3rd trophy the girls have brought home this season. Great job girls!
A huge Congratulations is also in order for Taylor Martell (pictured right), who was awarded Outstanding Wrestler for the girls. This award is given to the girl who all the coaches agree had the best tournament and proved to be the most dominant (no surprises there, Taylor, you rock!).
Their coach, Donovan Kleckner, was also named Girl’s Coach of the Year, and is very proud of all the athletes that competed, knowing that every single one of them gave it their all and represented Lampasas in a great way. We’re excited to see what the team does at Regionals!!

The Varsity team traveled to Gatesville to take on the Hornets in match 3 of a 4 match Road Trip Extravaganza. After beautiful possession play, a physical battle, and some huge momentum swings, the full 80 minutes was not enough to decide a winner. So, for the first time this season, there were penalty kicks (PKs)!! The Badgers emerged victorious with a PK Score of 3-0.
Coach Burnside remarks, “Our form is improving as District play goes on. We are finding the short and simple to chain longer possessions together that work well in our favor!! I am proud that the boys have bought in to this style of play, because it truly turns into #TheBeautifulGame!”
PK Shooters: Mikey Clayton (C), Kent Ashley (C), and Juancho
#MoTM: Mikey Clayton (C)
Next action will conclude the 4 match Road Trip as the Badgers travel to Salado this Friday to play @ 7 PM against the Eagles.
