Popular Texas Country Singer Junior Gordon will be on stage under the big live oak at Twisted Oak Grill on Wednesday.
Nolan Ryan’s not the only big deal from Alvin, Texas. Junior Gordon’s not much of a pitcher but he sure can sing.
Junior started out in his hometown of Alvin with the same basic theme that has carried throughout his career, country music with a slight southern rock twist. He shares the stage at big events with such as Roger Creager, Sundance Head, Kevin Fowler, Bri Bagwell, Cory Morrow, etc., etc.
He was everywhere you looked at the Houston Stock Show area stages for the last few years, was nominated by the Houston Press for Best Band of the Year and Best Male Vocalist, etc.
His songs have included such as Mexicoma, Afterwife, I’d Find You, This Old Guitar and the recent top five song, I’m Breaking In.
Passing through, he’s doing the WNL show here and headed to The Ranch at Las Colinas on Friday in Irving before he turns around and heads south again for a show in Baytown. After that it’s a Lake Charles casino and Love and War in Texas and so goes the life of a Texas troubadour.
We’ll welcome Junior to our Lampasas WNL at 7:30pm at the Twisted Oak. Joining him on stage will be Abe Mac.
Abe Mac, according to an El Paso Times’ Kristopher Riverastory, is “sturdy as a rusty pipe fence.” Abe had played football at UTEP and says he actually started his music career as a senior there. Coach Mike Price asked him to write a song about the team and perform it. Abe found he liked the stage and that was it.
Abe Mac(Abiel Macias) is 32 now and in his own words “I’m always on the road, always playing a show,” Mac said. “On weekends, I’m a road warrior, playing in Arizona all the way to Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico.”
Abe’s past, and best offering to radio DJ’s, was a song called Shots, Shots, Shots…an interesting name for a song that’s about just what it sounds like. It’s a rockabilly sort of tune with a popular Youtube video circulating around. He’s also got softer tunes and a new release coming out. We’ll here all that on Wednesday at Twisted Oak Grill, 7:30-9:30pm. It’s a free show, be our guest and have fun under the big live oak.
