Lampasas resident Zachary Antonio Dibble, 19, passed away in Midland on Saturday, April 27, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The son of Russell and Lisa (Canales) Dibble, Zac was born in El Paso in 1994. After working in the El Paso and Abilene area, the family had relocated back to Lampasas, where they continue to reside. Funeral services will be held at 2pm today (Friday) at Grace Fellowship Church in Lampasas, with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Zac Dibble’s education began at the First Baptist Church Kindergarten in Lampasas and continued through his graduation from Lampasas High in May, 2012. He was actively involved in the FFA program and won numerous awards with his Ag Mechanic

 

The Lampasas County Higher Education Center (LCHEC) graduated four students last week from the their EKG Technician program. They all passed their certification exams and are now Certified EKG Technicians.

A rash of burglaries began about a month and a half ago in the area of the Sue Ann subdivision, near East Highway 190 where vehicles were broken into and checkbooks, purses, wallets and electronics were taken. Lampasas police investigator Lt. Jody Cummings said the burglars targeted unlocked vehicles at night and left no signs of forced entry.

A second string of vehicle burglaries followed, but appeared unrelated because the break-ins occurred during daylight hours.

Two arrests were made that may have cleared some of these cases. They took place after vehicles parked in front of the Lampasas Central Appraisal District, the Middle School and Hodges and Sargent Pharmacy were broken into.

A bomb threat Monday led to the evacuation of Copperas Cove Middle School, a district spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Police are investigating a threat that was received during lunch, spokeswoman Olga Pena said.

No suspicious devices were found and students returned to class less than an

 

The Lampasas Association for the Arts (LAFTA) whose mission is "Expanding Opportunities for Everyone to Experience the Arts" announced today the relocation of "Rolling Dancing Moon II" by artist Reven Swanson to The National Bank at 101 East Ninth Street in Lampasas.

The Blotter:

  • Lampasas Police arrested Jane Stenson, 39 of Lampasas in the 100 block of E 8th St. for assault by contact-family violence, resisting arrest and assault on a public servant…and, interfering with an emergency call….all of that at 3:16am this morning.
  • Lampasas Sheriff’s Office blotter shows the arrest of Samuel Ryan Barbero a 22 year old Lampasas male on a motion to revoke for an assault to cause bodily injury. They responded to a minor accident, an animal bite, loud music and a reckless conduct.
 

Police in Copperas Cove arrested a man Sunday following a standoff in a residential neighborhood.

One neighbor told reporters at least one shot was fired from inside a home on Pleasant Lane. Police were sent to the home at about 3:30 pm. Sunday after callers reported hearing the gunfire.

 

A major bill on top of Gov.

Rick Perry's priority list was to authorize the spending of $2 billion of the State’s Rainy Day Fund on state water projects. Monday night that bill failed in the Texas House after a contentious debate.

“My understanding is, it’s doorknob dead,” said the bill's sponsor, Rep.

Allan Ritter, R-Nederland.
