Lampasas council to meet
Workshop discussion includes the LCRA emergency water interconnect, and there will be a joint meeting with a city Design Review Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission. This group will discuss proposed design guidelines for a “neighborhood empowerment zone” that will take in the downtown area. Presumably this would impact the appearance of buildings in that area by trading financial incentives for historic preservation.
During the regular meeting, there will be a second reading of some ordinances that amend park, library and cemetery fees, and set the city election date.
Council will also consider a Daughters of the Republic of Texas’ request to remove a wall in the kitchen area of the Hostess House. Other items of discussion include a four-way stop at Samac Lane and 1st Street, and a Spring Ho parade permit.
The Lampasas Police Department is asking for council permission to apply for another police officer position. The new officer slot would come with partial funding through a Major Crimes Assistance Officer grant. The county Sheriff’s Dept. had declined to ask for the grant, which requires matching funds and an extended payroll position not funded by the grant.
Recent annexation committee recommendations will be discussed and the council may instruct staff to begin the annexation process of Area 12 (Hwy 281 South) and Area 6 (FM 580 W).
