July 4th weekend to feature heat, careful fireworks
A few of us will make trips in planes and trains, and many more of us will load up in the car for a road trip. And, lots more of us perhaps will stay close to the house with family and just cool-out for the weekend.
If you’re in for a short Texas road trip and haven’t made plans yet you might consider the 4th of July Fireworks and Symphony at Auditorium Shores in Austin, or if that seems a bit busy for you there’s the annual Luckenbach July 4th Family Picnic with lots of music and Texas fun. That would put you very near Fredericksburg where there’s always lots to see.
If you’re staying closer to home and want to see some fireworks the annual Lometa fireworks show will start about 9pm. If you have fireworks yourself, remember that the burn ban is in effect and only certain fireworks can be used. Those you shouldn’t set off are bottle rockets and aerial things with fins.
As for supplies for the weekend you should get them today if you can because Saturday is a holiday. We checked with key places such as Ace Hardware--they’ll be closed all day Saturday, while HEB and WalMart will be open from 6 to 11am for those last minute runs for charcoal or a pack of ribs.
Our Lampasas Radio office will be closed Saturday and there won’t be a paper, but the radio is always on and Ron Moffat will have some great music and fun as you’re working around the grill. Have a good and a safe 4th of July y’all ! See you Monday.
