Sales Tax Checks to Cities Show Economy Has Improved
Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced today that state sales tax revenue in March was $1.87 billion, up 16.9 percent compared to March 2011.
The checks to Lampasas County and other area cities are in-the-mail and evidently looking much better than last year, showing that the overall economy continues to improve. The checks the cities receive are rebates of sales tax collected within them. Lampasas and Lometa get back 1.5% of their
collected sales tax and Kempner gets 1.25%.
Lampasas
received $99,739, up 7.85% from last year.
Lometa
received $3,986, up 28.11% from last year.
Kempner
, the only city with a decrease, received $7,489, down 31.36% from last year.
Burnet
received $118,483, up 3.85% from last year.
San Saba
received $29,199, up 10.9% over last year.
Copperas Cove
received $314, 975, up 15.96% from last year.
