Lampasas Youth at Fort Worth Livestock Show
Lampasas County 4-H and FFA students competed in day 1 of the Market Hogs and Steer competitions at the annual Fort Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Highlights include several of our Lampasas cattle and hog exhibitors being pulled from their competitive classes and getting a “second look” by their species judge.. Braedon Raub, Crosby Liverman, Kobie Cockrell, and Victoria Procter’s steers were looked over a
second time as was Maddie Langford’s and Hadley Berry’s.
Placing within the auction slots and winning places was Maddie Langford with her 6th Place steer and Hadley Berry with his 9th place steer.
In the Barrow Show, Carly Hall placed 2nd with her Chester White barrow and made the premium-slot reward as did Braedon Hopson with his 9th place Hampshire barrow.
Market animal competition continues today as the Fort Worth Livestock Show and Sale begins to wind down. Local competitors will then go on the road for next week’s opening of the annual San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Week 1 in San Antonio will include Breeding Goats and Breeding Gilt completions and week 2 is Heifers followed by Market Lambs and Goats, then Barrows and Steers and Agricultural Mechanics.
