Lampasas Police Department reports of activity for 2011 indicated slightly more miles traveled by their 18 cars and 2 motorcycles for ’11 over 2010. In 2011 they racked up 172,979 as opposed to 2010’s 170,242.

On the other hand, the criminal cases reported were down a bit (984 in 2011 and 1,143 in 2010). And, they cleared more

 of those reported in 2011 (954 cleared in 2011, 950 cleared in 2010).

There were only 434 adults arrested for crimes in 2011, while 637 were arrested for crimes in 2010.

Juvenile arrests were up a bit in 2011 (110 as opposed to 105 the prior year) and tickets issued by Lampasas cops were down a bit too, as they only ticketed 2,881 in 2011, down from the 2,949 tickets written in 2010.

There was a striking drop in DWI arrests in 2011 as only 41 DWI’s made the books as opposed to 60 in 2010. Drug possession was down from 2010’s 128 to 2011’s 74.

But, for some reason (possibly highway construction), the number of accidents in Lampasas was way up. There were 320 accidents reported, as opposed to 246 in 2010.

Last but not least, the number of animal complaint calls was way up to 2,137 as opposed to 2010’s 1,672.
