As abuse in every form is on the rise, some concerned citizens not only from lampasas, but also from copperas cove and Fort Hood and Killeen have come together to form an organization called the Guardians Of The Innocent. Our goal is to try and make our schools and streets and homes a safer place. We are not a motorcycle club in any manner. We will work closely with CPS and law enforcement to protect those who cannot protect themselves such as children, abused spouses, and especially the elderly. We hope our membership will increase in time. All information will be confidental and will only be shared with law enforcement and CPS. We will stand ready to assist the law enforcement where we can and the schools to insure the safety of the children. All our members pass a complete background check. Our motto is "NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR".      Jack Sherman

[From the editor: The following letter appears to be in response to statements attributed to County Commissioner Lowell Ivey in the Lampasas Dispatch newspaper. It also appears to reference Mr. Moore's opinion on issues having to do with the proposed county annex addition.]

Many years ago, my ole Grandpappy told me, “Two heads are better than one, even if one is a gourd.” Now, Mr. Ivey (County commissioner of precinct3), tells me 5 heads are better than 723 heads. I am somewhat confused. Mr. Ivey tells me we have got a select few of about 600 people who are ruling everything he does, while doing the County business.

Mr. Ivey also tells me there are 22,000 residents in Lampasas County. Fuzzy math?

Mr. Ivey, I have a couple of questions for you.

1. In the last election, when you were running for County Commissioner of Precinct 3, how many good people did not vote for you? [Reference: Lampasas Dispatch Record, March 4, 2008]

2. Mr. Ivey, out of the 22,000 people that you are claiming reside in Lampasas County that pay taxes, how much of that tax money is yours?

I can see it now, a $4,000,000 storage building.

Mr. Ivey, WE are the people! WE pay the taxes and vote.

I am just one of over 600 people living in Lampasas County, who pay taxes, vote and have a voice in our county decisions.

Don’t sell us short!

J. D. Moore
