Our neighbors to the east at Copperas Cove will celebrate the birthday of their town on Monday, March 25th with a to-do at the Library at 501 S. Main at 5:30pm. The event will include the reading of a proclamation, historical photo displays, storytelling, a birthday cake and other refreshments…and they’ll all sing Happy Birthday to their town.
Many of us recall the Copperas Cove of the 50s and 60s, when it was a very small town, dwarfed by Lampasas, Gatesville and Killeen. Cove soon outgrew both Lampasas and Gatesville and now has a population that was over 32 thousand at last census. It’s likely a few to several thousand higher today.
