Badger Football to play Lorena                                   The teams begin the series today with Freshmen and JV teams at home and the Middle School on the road.

The Freshmen/JV teams will play on Badger Field this evening as they host Lorena. The 9th graders will play at 5pm and the JV at 6:30pm.

The Badger Varsity team (3-0) will meet the Lorena Leopards on Friday at Lorena at 7:30pm. The Leopards are 2-1 and have a passing QB in Bradley Lina, averaging 223 yards per game.

The Leopards lost to Blanket last week, but beat Franklin and China Spring in the two previous games.

The Badgers on the other hand, have absolutely dominated their opponents in the two games they have played so far. It should be a good game.

The game will be broadcast live over KCYL Radio and on the internet at lampasasradio.com with KCYL broadcasters Darrell Brooks and Kenny Murray. The pre-game show will be on the air shortly after 7pm.

The first Middle School football game will be today at Lorena, with the rolling start games beginning at 4:30pm.

Badger Tennis

If you are a Badger Sports fan, you’d have to be paying attention to our tennis team, coached by Kenneth Peiser.

The teams seem to continue every year to be at or near the top of the heap in area tennis, even though the players change, graduate and go on and new players show up.

This year seems to be another hopefully good one. The team is 10-2 going into their first district match today and that looks great but...this small district is a tough neighborhood.

Lampasas goes up against district opponent Liberty Hill, a team that is loaded with experienced seniors. Senior boys  Henry Madison and Gunnar Ortega are formidable in the number 1 boys doubles and both equally tough in singles. The girls have Mackenzie Coleman, another decorated senior that has been a regional semifinalist a couple of times already.

One of Lampasas two losses this year was to Copperas Cove who lost to Liberty Hill recently.

On the other hand, Lampasas has proved to be another tough competitor themselves, and Coach Peiser says the way he sees it, these two teams should be evenly matched going in.

How important is this match? The winner of this one should be the district champion in team tennis.

The match should start about 3:30 this afternoon at Lampasas Courts. It will be well worth watching and fans are certainly invited.

Volleyball

The Badger Varsity Volleyball team hopes to keep it up on Friday when they host Rapoport Academy. The JV will play at 4pm and the Varsity at 5:30pm.

The Varsity won their match with Bangs on Tuesday, taking the 3 of 5 series by losing the first two games and fighting back to win the last three games and the series.

Cross Country

The Badger Cross Country Team was at Gatesville this morning for the 8am kickoff of the Gatesville Cross Country Invitational.
