The Lampasas ISD Board met on Monday evening and quickly worked through a modest agenda.
First up were a couple of recognition moments. A reading program sponsored by Texas A&M Central Texas was acknowledged. In July A&M graduate students worked with 26 LISD students who will be in grades 1st thru 3rd for the upcoming year. Students considered “at risk for reading” participated and by all accounts were able to get a jump-start in reading for the year. The district provided daily bus transportation.
Superintendent Chane Rascoe then presented certificates of appreciation from the District and TASB to Police Chief Sammy Bailey, and Fire Chief Reece Oestreich for the invaluable support the District has received from their departments.
Actions taken by the Board included:
● approval of a List of Bills paid by the District for the Month of June - $954,603.05;
● date for a public hearing on budget and proposed tax rates for 2018-2019 was set for August 27, 2018;
● approval of a request for a commitment of a fund balance of $6 million left from the 2017/2018 school year budget. $3.5 million will go towards Middle School Construction and $2.5 million will go to instructional technology.
