The High yesterday 98° This morning’s low 74°
Today: Still a 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. That, along with widespread haze occasionally interrupting sunshine, but nothing to keep the area from reaching up to 99° or possibly touching the triple digits. The south wind will be 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Still a tiny chance of rain in the early evening. Partly cloudy with a low around 74° and south wind between 10 and 15 mph.
Friday: Another sunny day with a high awfully close to triple digits, up to 99°, and south wind light at 5-10 mph.
Overnight the temperature will drop to about 73° and the south wind will be 5-10 mph.
The Long Range Outlook: Saturday will bring another sunny and hot afternoon with south wind 5-10 mph and temperatures up to 97°. Sunday should be about the same. A change is coming eventually but now the long range discussions say that the high pressure system that is keeping it hot and mostly dry is being stubborn about moving out. That means at least upper 90s through the middle of next week.
That said, there seem to be spots of “shortwave troughs” moving through the area that bring spotty, brief showers or thunderstorms in this part of Central Texas. That is what brought stormy rain to a few spots in Lampasas County on Wednesday and it could happen again today.
