Lady Badgers Volleyball Won

The Lady Badgers were able to pull out a five game series last night in Florence.

It was 25-16, 18-25, 17-25 and not looking too good after three, but the Lady Badgers came back with a two game streak, 25-17 and 15-9 to win it.

The Badger Tennis team was upset by Cove yesterday.

Coach Kenneth Peiser reported a stormy match in Copperas Cove where the team started the matches, then a lightning delay stopped them. In their last meeting Lampasas had beat Cove’s team 12-7 and hoped for the same kind of results.

After the delay, Lampasas jumped to a 4-3 lead in doubles, as in a third set tie breaker Dwamena/Munoz won, as did Allan/Neary and Green/Dunning and Fesler/Aguirre. It looked good. Then it started to turn a bit with Lampen/Claussen losing in a tie breaker and the same thing happened to the mixed doubles team of Gonzales/Beavers.

With the 4-3 lead under their belt, singles began with Dunning getting a quick win. Aguirre, Fesler, Lampen, and Dwamena all came off with wins that put Lampasas up 9-4.

But, as it sometimes happens, the other team began to come back. Green fell and Munoz , Claussen and Belanger fell. It was then 9-9 and down to Neary. He fought his way to a 7-6 match point but couldn’t finish off the opponent and fell in that match 7-9.

When it was over, Lampasas had lost to Cove 9-10, putting the Badger Tennis record now at 5-2. They will get a chance for revenge on the match in October when the teams meet again.

For now, they’re headed to Pflugerville on Friday.
