Fall Tennis was at Georgetown on Friday for a hot afternoon match with Eastview High. The temperature inched up to 103° as Badger players took their “big school” opponents right to the wire.

Coach Kenneth Peiser reported that the Eastview players “had kick serves and it was hard for us to control at first.”

Carroll/Belanger fell early in doubles, then Posey/Beaver went down before Dwamena/Munoz, Claussen/Lampen and Dunning/Green all had wins. Allan/Neary came off with a long come-from-behind win.  Fesler/Aguirre have won their past 5 matches and were playing well, but fell in the third set tie breaker 4-10. These two boys doubles teams have been playing very well and fought for every game.

Lampasas was up 4-3 in doubles, then the singles...

Lampen came off with an easy win as did Dwamena.  Belanger, then Carroll, came off with losses.  Munoz and Claussen finished with two more wins giving us an 8-5 lead.  Allan, Posey and Dunning came off with losses and it  was 8-8 with Aguirre, Green and Neary left. With the players cheering each of them on, it was not enough to pull them out and they lost all three, dropping the match 8-11.  The players tried hard and did not give up. Eastview, a much bigger school, was just a little too good on this day.

The team now plays Cove on Tuesday and Pflugerville High on Friday (Eastview beat Pflugerville 12-7 this year)...that means another close match.
