The streets were busy this morning as cars, driven by students and moms and teachers, along with big yellow school busses, filled the roadways.
Lampasas ISD students showed up at their assigned times, from a few minutes before 8am to a few minutes after, depending on the campus. The bells will ring to let the students out this afternoon at times that range from 3:20 to 3:25, again, depending on the grade and campus.
In Lometa, the ISD classes started at 7:55 and will let out at 3:25. According to Supt. David Fisher there were about 290 students registered yesterday but because of the early start this year he wasn’t sure how many would be on hand this morning. Lometa had its three school busses out early, picking up the rural kids. It’s also noted that this year in Lometa, all students will be treated to free breakfasts every morning.
Please be careful as you drive to and from work to avoid accident or incidents with the new school traffic. Be especially careful to avoid the pedestrian traffic near schools where many of the kids walk or ride bikes to school.
