Robert Wayne (Bob) Simmerman Sr. 92 of Evant, Texas died Thursday November 29, 2018 at his home.He was born January 1, 1926 in Anna, IL the son of Ray Simmerman and Flo (Shepard) Simmerman. Bob joined the navy and served during WWII. Later he joined the Air Force and retired as Tech SGT. Bob also fought in war efforts in Korea and Vietnam. He had worked afterwards as a grave digger and school bus driver and transportation director for Evant ISD. He and his wife Betty had been married 48 years. He was proud of his service to country, his family and his work.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones Simmerman of Evant; 3 sons, Robert Wayne Simmerman Jr. and wife Tammy of Evant, Andrew Joseph Simmerman and wife Brandi of Gatesville and Steven Simmerman; daughter, Sherry Johnson and husband Louis of San Leon, TX; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gene, Barney, Lester and Frank and by daughter, Leslie Simmerman.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, Dec. 1st, at Langford Cove Cemetery in Evant.
Michael Kevin Ross, 65 of Kempner, Texas died Thursday November 29, 2018 at his home.
He was born Nov. 19, 1953 in Austin, Texas the son of Donald Ross and Margie (Duran) Ross. Michael graduated from High School in Temple, Texas and had lived in Austin, Temple, Copperas Cove and Kempner for many years. He owned and operated his own lawn and landscaping business for more than 20 years. He loved fishing and hunting. Michael was a wonderful husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Ross; step-sons Butch, Quentin and Patrick Mellon; mother, Margie Duran; step-father, Gary Ellis; sisters, Debra, Karen, Sharon and Melissa; brother, Rex and 8 grandchildren also survive. Michael was preceded in death by his father.
Michael’s body will be cremated and a celebration of his life is planned for a future date.
