Lometa Hornets six-man football team took a drubbing last Friday at the hands of the Evant Elks 44-20. This week they’ll meet Zephyr in the last district 15 home game with a 7:30pm kickoff.

The season for Lometa has been pretty tough, stuck in a 4 team district with tough Jonesboro and very competitive Zephyr and Evant. They currently sit at 0-2 while Evant and Zephyr are 1-1 and Jonesboro is 2-0. In this last district game Zephyr and Evant are hoping to each hang on to the number two spot, but it actually looks way more promising for Zephyr than for Evant, who will have to play Jonesboro.

On a happier note for Lometa sports they had a top UIL State Qualifier coming out of the Regional meet.  Enrique Prado came in 17th in the Regionals, but then went to the State Meet, and in a field of 147 runners, came in 21st. He turned in a time of 17:22, which was pretty impressive.

The Lometa Girls BB team will be in Mullin for their season kickoff tonight at 7pm.
