Badger Football

The 3-1 Badgers opponent this week is 2-2 Fredericksburg.

After their huge win Friday night over Canyon Lake the Badgers have to fight to keep their 2nd place position in district. The Billies are fighting to “get some respect” and for playoff position. After being first predicted to be up near the top in district play, then facing a couple of bruising losses to Liberty Hill and Taylor before coming back to beat Canyon Lake. Friday night they were up against winless Burnet and found themselves behind going into the last quarter before they exploded and scored 20 points to win the game. That put them at 2-2 in district, tied with Canyon Lake and fighting for a playoff berth.

With Canyon Lake facing Liberty Hill Friday night, the outlook for them is pretty bleak and most of us would guess they finish the season 2-3. If Lampasas wins this Friday over Fredericksburg to capture a solid 2nd place, that sends Fredericksburg down to tie with Canyon Lake, except they had beat Canyon Lake earlier. So-o, Fredericksburg has the edge.

If Fredericksburg should win over Lampasas, they go up to 3-2 and Lampasas goes down to 2-3, tied with Canyon Lake. But Lampasas beat Canyon Lake in regular season.

So, Lampasas finishes either 2nd or 3rd in district and that’s important because the 3rd place team has a much tougher future going into the playoffs.

Go Badgers!
