Delia Kathleen “Kathy” (Roberts) Shore, 80, of Lampasas, TX, passed away Oct. 18, 2018, after an extended illness.
The funeral service will be held at 2pm Oct. 27th, at the Marshall Alumni Building (formerly the Christian Church of Marshall, OK). Burial will follow the funeral at Marshall IOOF North Cemetery at 3pm.
Kathy was born in Lucien, OK on Feb. 8,1938. She graduated from Marshall High School and received a Bachelor of Education from NW Oklahoma State, and a Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma.
Kathy was married to Samuel Everett Shore on Aug. 1, 1958. They were married for 60 years and had an adventurous life, teaching in Western Samoa, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas.
Kathy worked as an educator for over 45 years, teaching elementary school, reading and writing recovery, ESL and GED high school completion programs to young adults. She enjoyed singing, playing piano, and was a voracious reader and prolific writer – having published several articles and a book. She also compiled and edited the Pioneer Sodbusters and Roustabouts history book for the Marshall and Covington, OK area. She was always active in her church.
Kathy is survived by husband, Samuel Everett Shore of Lampasas; children and their spouses, Joyce Shore of Okla. City, James Shore of Los Angeles, Sam (Corey) Shore of Utah, Troy and Mary Shore of Leander and Renee and Jacob Knorpp of Joplin, MO; her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Bob Beagley of Alva OK; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Dean and Mary Katherine (Lutes) Roberts; daughter, Cara Jean (Shore) Todd; and granddaughter, Nichole Hiddleston.
John Hilton Smith, 68 of Killeen, TX died Sunday October 21, 2018.
He was born September 15, 1950 in Lampasas, to Hilton Reagan Smith and Mildred Jeanette (Casbeer) Smith. At the time of his birth, his parents and one sister lived in Killeen. He attended Killeen schools. In 1977 he married Nancy S. Barrington, they had 2 children. They divorced in 2005. All of his life was spent in the Killeen/Belton area, managing his rental properties.
John’s favorite things to do were camping, fishing and training his dogs. He shared his home with 2 dogs, Bailey and Jack. He is survived by children, Laura Rice of Belton and Chad Smith of Hutto; sisters, Annette Hyder of Bastrop and Debbie Phillips of Round Rock and grandsons, Chase and Evan. Also two caring cousins Sledge and Jean Smith and other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 26th at 2pm at Davis Cemetery.
