The crossing on Third St. will be closed until further notice. The BNSF Railroad is doing maintenance on the railroad crossing on Third Street and is evidently being hampered by weather conditions. They had originally planned to spend just a day on it, opening it up on Tuesday, but that hasn’t happened. Now, we have received this notice from Lampasas PD.
“The crossing is not safe to cross at this time and may cause damage to vehicles and/or could cause a vehicle to become stuck on the tracks. The road will remain barricaded until BNSF advises the crossing is safe to cross.
It is a violation of law to disobey the instructions, signals, warnings, markings or markings of a warning sign; or drive around a barricade in a construction/maintenance area.
NOTE: BNSF advised this is a safety precaution due to the rehab work and the wet ground, due to the rain we've had. They hope to open it tomorrow but that will depend upon the weather and ground conditions.
