Though the Lampasas River at Kempner was down this morning from its peak on Tuesday, it is still on a huge rise.
The USGS observation at the river near Kempner show that the gage height at the Kempner site early Monday morning was about 2 ft. and the discharge was about 8cfs. Shortly after noon Tuesday the river was up to about 19.5ft and 27,000cfs.
It dropped to about 8ft and below 7,000cfs as the rise went down overnight, then started to shoot back up this morning as more runoff from yesterday and overnight rains came down the river. It was at around 14ft and 17,000cfs at 11am this morning and rising fast at that point. The NWS flood stage at the river is about 18 ft.
