Kyla June Earnest, 21 of Academy, passed away Oct. 6 at her residence. A visitation will be held at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton from 5 to 7pm today. Funeral Services will be at 2pm Thursday, Oct. 11 at First Baptist Church of Academy. Burial will follow at Pendleton Cemetery. Kyla, the only daughter of Marlyn and Mary Earnest,was born May 29, 1997 in Temple. She was a bubbly sweet little girl and attended elementary and middle school in Academy, then graduated high school at Troy in 2015. She had almost completed her Associates degree at Temple Jr. College in Computer Technology. She loved animals and showed rabbits in FFA and 4H. She enjoyed horses, art, four wheelers, photo editing and videography. Kyla was full of life, gentle, kind and so talented. She will be missed.
Kyla is survived by her loving parents, Marlyn and Mary Earnest of Temple; uncles Robert Carroll of Lampasas, Paul Carroll of Moody, David Carroll of Lampasas, Jimmy Earnest of Temple, Doug and wife Leatha Earnest of Lufkin; aunts, Verne Anne Hurst of Temple, Doris and husband Billy Bagette of MO, Kay Earnest of Leander and numerous cherished cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by grandparents June and Mary Anne Carroll, Pete and Marzell Earnest and Cotton Holcombe; aunts Francis Aberegg, Darlene Carroll and Mary Ann Earnest; uncles Harold Aberegg and Frank Raymond. Larry W. Morris, 78 of Lampasas, died Monday October 8, 2018 at Rollins-Brook Community Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1940 in Lampasas, Texas to parents Dan Chesley “Cotton” Morris and Virginia A. (Harrell) Morris. Larry grew up here and was a life-long resident of the county. He married Bette Lou Rose in 1961. Larry was a firefighter at Fort Hood for many years. After retirement he was a cattle rancher. He was a member of Central Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. He was also a member of Saratoga Masonic Lodge # 546 A.F and A.M.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bette Lou Morris; daughter, Pam Willis and husband Robert; son, Randy Morris and wife Sonya; grandchildren Robi Akers and husband Zac, Mardi Mason and husband Jordan, Madison Morris and Mason Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lawana Blair and infant brother, Chesley Wardell (Sonny boy) Morris.
The funeral service will be Thursday Oct. 11, at 3pm at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.

Micheal Joseph Tongish, 79 of Oakalla, died Saturday Oct. 6, 2018 at his home. He was born May 1, 1939 in Oberlin, Kansas the son of Emory M. Tongish and Matilda Cecilia (Leitner) Tongish. Mike graduated from Oberlin High School and later served three years in the U.S. Army. He married Geraldine Smith and they have lived in Oakalla since 1966. Mike retired from U.S. Civil service in the commissary. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday Oct. 11 at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow in Gillum Cemetery near Oakalla. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6-8pm at Sneed Funeral Chapel, rosary at 7 pm.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Tongish, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin Smith (Becky) and granddaughter, Morgan Tongish. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, by his son Patrick and by sister, Naydeen Pochop.
