Nellie Mae Cook Baker died September 28, 2018 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple at age 96.
She was born August 13, 1922 at Kempner, Texas and was raised there by parents Frank and Texie (Grizzle) Cook.
Nellie had lived most of her life in Lampasas county and later in Burnet. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She worked as a nurse’s aide for a number of years.
She is survived by her children Jay Meyer, Priscilla Luetkenhoelter and husband Wayne, Loretta Collins and husband John, and Olivia Meyer; nieces Hedy Heugatter and Carolyn Franks; grandchildren Michelle Meyer, Samantha Sparks, John Melancon, Danny Brown, Tamara Hamm (Scott); 9 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, husband Bill Baker, grandson and great-grandson.
Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday Oct. 3 at 11am at Kempner Cemetery.
Mary Ruth Weaks, 77 of Lampasas, died September 29, 2018 at Lampasas Nursing and Rehab.
She was born November 27, 1940 in Paris Tennessee, the daughter of Frank Hamm and Mittie (Hill) Hamm. Mary worked as a home health aide for many years. She married Wilburn Darrell “Doc” Weaks and he preceded her in death. She attended Christ the Rock Church.
She is survived by her children, Rex Gossett, Morris Gossett, Judy Gossett, Doris Weaks, Martha Weaks, Delois Phillips and Mary Maldonado; sister, Martha Sue Thomas and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, several brothers and one sister; Billy Hamm, Roger Hamm, James Hamm, Bobby Hamm and Mittie Sue Hamm.
A memorial service will be Tuesday Oct. 2, at 3pm at Christ the Rock Church. Mary’s body will be cremated.
