Local golfers were delayed a bit this morning as the Hancock Park Course was closed for a
tournament. The now annual it seems, Fort Hood Department of Public Works 4-Person
tournament teed off at 8am this morning and ran to noon. Oh well, it will probably be a fairly pleasant afternoon for touring the links.
It’s Kid Fish and Camping in the Park day with kids and families able to bring their chairs, blankets, coolers and even pup tents to Brook Park. Here’s what’s on the menu: Registration takes place at 7pm this evening at the park, then there’s a hot dog supper, a movie (Moana), s’mores, camping & fishing…all night. You can take part in any or all of the above. Saturday morning, kids will fish to noon, then trophies and door prizes will be handed out around 1pm. There are no concessions, so bring what you need. There will be available electricity at some pedestals, but that, and the camping spots themselves are all on a first come -first serve basis. Check out your spot early!
Pools are open at Hancock Springs and Hanna Springs from noon to 7pm every Thursday thru Saturday and from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday. A Little Nite Music will be going on down on tonight (Friday) down on the square. The Hims of Praise, an acapella men’s chorus, will be entertaining.
