Badger Playoff Baseball tonight – The Badgers head for Austin tonight for a 6:30pm game with Giddings. It is a bi-district level playoff and will be a 2 of 3 series. The second game will be played at 11:30am Saturday and if a 3rd game is needed it will follow immediately after the second game.

Coach Doege told us this morning in the Badger Baseball show that he has waffled back and forth all week but has decided to start Garrett Witcher on the mound. Witcher is the team’s speed pitcher and is imposing in size, so the Giddings Buffaloes will have to face him first. Catching will be freshman Hunter Rebando. In the bullpen are the other ready pitchers; Geagley, Gillespie, Morphis, Allen, and the surprise freshman pitcher that Doege has brought up from the JV team for the playoffs.

Coach Doege says the Giddings teams most important weapon is their starting pitcher, who also hits the ball well. He says the top half of their lineup is impressive at bat. Lampasas best chance, he thinks, is to shut down that early part of their lineup and hope that their pitcher has a bad day, as good pitchers sometimes do. Gametime again, 6:30pm. Westwood Warriors baseball field in Austin, near the Lakeline Mall area. Get off 183 there, cross on over RR620, and, well, get on your cell phone for help …. The game will be broadcast live over KACQ 101.9 and over our internet stream at lampasasradio.com. Ronnie Witcher and Kirk Whitehead will have the broadcast. Go Badgers!
