Sports: Badger Baseball Waits For Friday

Badger Baseball practices and waits for the bus to leave on Friday afternoon for Austin. The team will meet Giddings in the Bi-district playoff round of 4A High School Baseball Playoffs.
Lampasas is the 4th place team in District 19 and Giddings is the 1st place team in District 20. It’s an uphill battle for the Badgers, just as the seeding matchups intend, but it’s a chance for the team to prove itself. The playoff round is a best 2 of 3 series with the first game Friday
evening beginning at 6:30pm. After that, it’s back to the same field, Westwood High’s ball field just off Hwy 183 at near RR 620, for an 11:30am game on Saturday. It should be good ball game weather on Saturday. If, after the second game the two teams are tied, an immediate
third game will begin.

The Badgers should start Levi Geagley on the mound, throwing to the premium freshman catcher, Hunter Rebando. Levi was out for a few weeks after a bad pitch hit his throwing hand and chipped a bone, but he was back in action as a shortstop in the last game and seemed to be ok. Backing up Geagley are several available relievers, including speed pitcher Garrett Witcher and sidearm Harrison Gillespie.

We’ll get one more chance to talk to Coach Doege about the Friday game tomorrow (Thursday) at 8am when he’ll be in the studio for the Badger Baseball show. The games will be broadcast live on KACQ Radio at 101.9FM and on our live stream at lampasasradio.com.
