The Lady Badgers Softball team defeated Taylor in a run-ruled 14-4 game on Friday. It was the first game of the second round of district play on Friday and the second time the local girls beat Taylor. The Lady Badgers had two losses in the first round, but were back in a big way Friday night.

Around the district, Liberty Hill beat Leander Glenn 17-0 and Salado beat Llano 8-6. Burnet had a bye. Lampasas heads to Salado Tuesday, seeking revenge for the loss they had to Salado in the first round of play. Gametime is scheduled for 6:30pm.

That game will be broadcast on KCYL 1450AM, with Darrell Brooks and Randy Morris calling the game. Every Tuesday morning at 8am Coach Drew Cleavinger and one or more Lady Badgers will be in our studio for the weekly radio show with host Ronnie Witcher. We talk about the games, meet the players, and find out what’s coming up next.

Badger Baseball is still in the hunt for the top of District 19 baseball, beating Taylor 3-1 in 6 ½ innings of play on Badger field last Friday. Friday’s play has now brought Lampasas into the
picture in the state rankings.

The Texas High School Baseball Association has now placed Lampasas at #24 in 4A baseball, still well behind Liberty Hill’s 12th place, but ahead of Taylor who now sits at #25. Levi Geagley pitched his best game of the season so far on Friday, racking up 11 strikeouts. Lampasas defense only had 2 errors in the game, though they didn’t get a lot of hits on Taylor’s Christian
Larson who also had a great game on the mound with 10 strikeouts of Badger batters.

The one Badger batters that really seem to do well against Larson were Badger third baseman Mateo Maldonado, hitting 3 times with one RBI, and Harrison Gillespie who hit twice. Around the district, Liberty Hill blew away the young Leander Glenn team 11-0 and Salado beat Llano 8-1 after a full 7 innings. Burnet had a bye. Lampasas will travel to Salado for Tuesday’s road game and again, needs this game to stay just one notch from the top in district play. Salado is 3-2 in district play, Lampasas is 4-1.
