In the violent case resulting in the death of two local women on Thursday April 13th, we asked for follow-up information from Asst. Police Chief and Investigator Jody Cummings. He said the
case continued to be open pending autopsy and Texas Ranger releases, but gave us the basic things they found so far:
A voice that was believed to be that of 24 yr old Millie Chance called Lampasas Police on 911 at 11:49am that Thursday morning with a frantic report that her wife had a gun and that “I told her I wanted a divorce.” Police went to the address at 702 W. North Ave. and when they were trying to get entry into the house they heard two shots fired. On forced entry they found 47 yr old Deborah Chance deceased with a gunshot to her forehead and a 9mm Glock pistol next to her body. They found Millie Chance nearby in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.
She was taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple by helicopter. She later died there.
Millie Chance was employed by the Burnet Co. Sheriff’s Dept. and her funeral was to take place in Round Rock today. Deborah Chance was a bus driver for Lampasas ISD and we learned that no local arrangements are pending.
