The Lady Badgers Softball team won big, 14-4, over Taylor last night, run ruling the
Lady Ducks in 4 ½ innings. They were back in character as a dominating force on the softball field, after a loss earlier in the week to Liberty Hill.

Cally Reding went the distance on the mound with only 2 strikeouts, with her defense doing the heavy lifting. At bat it was dependable Blakeli Brookerson, Natalie Denoso and Kloe Corbin sharing the hit lead with 3 each. All of 3 of the girls had 3 RBIs each.

Around the district, Liberty Hill slammed Leander Glenn 17-0 in three innings. Salado beat Llano 8-6 after 7 full innings and they went into that last inning with Llano ahead 5-4. It was just a big 4 run inning that gave Salado the win. Lampasas next game is against Salado, one of the two teams that has beat them in district. The game will be on the road with the
local girls anxious to redeem themselves against the Salado Lady Eagles.

Every Tuesday morning at 8am Coach Drew Cleavinger and one or more Lady Badgers will be in our studio for the weekly radio show with host Ronnie Witcher.

We talk about the games, meet the players, and find out what’s coming up next.

Badger Baseball is still in the hunt for the top of the heap in District 19 baseball, beating Taylor 3-1 in 6 ½ innings of play on Badger field. Levi Geagley went the distance on the mound and put on what was probably his best performance of the year to date with 11 strikeouts.  Interestingly enough, the game was a pitcher’s duel as Taylor’s Christian Larson had 10 strikeouts himself.

At the bat it was not the top of the batting order that did it for the Badgers. Most of them couldn’t hit Larson’s pitching. It was the latter part of the order that hit the ball best. Mateo Maldonado socked the ball 3 times, with one RBI, and Harrison Gillespie hit twice.
Around the district, Liberty Hill blew away the young Leander Glenn team 11-0 and Salado beat Llano 8-1 after a full 7 innings. Lampasas will travel to Salado for Tuesday’s road game and
again, needs this game to stay just one notch from the top in district play. Salado is 3-2 in district play, Lampasas is 4-1.
