Lady Badger Softball had a long hard week last week with two district games and three tournament games, along with some of the girls taking part in the Badger Relays track meet in Lampasas. In their last game, the Lady Badgers lost their second district outing to Salado, which was the big disappointment of the week for them. After a well-earned rest over the weekend and today, the girls will be back on the road Tuesday in a road game against Llano.
The varsity game will be broadcast live over KCYL 1450AM with Lady Badger softball broadcaster Darrell Brooks at the microphone covering the action. For those who follow Lady Badger Softball close-up, join Lampasas Radio Tuesday mornings at 8am for Coach Drew Cleavinger and Ronnie Witcher and the Lady Badger Softball Show.

Badger Baseball had a long but very successful weekend. It was the Badger Baseball Tournament, kicking off on Thursday morning. They beat Jarrell and Killeen on Thursday, then lost Brownwood Friday morning, but came back to beat Florence Friday afternoon. There was one more game for the Badgers on Saturday morning, and it was a good one for the locals.
Harrison Gillespie, a late entry to baseball this year since he was on that playoff basketball team, was on the mound in the game against Killeen High. He got the win, going all 7 innings with 3 strikeouts. The big story for the Badgers was their bats, with 2 hits each from
Santos Vega and Garrett Witcher, and Witcher was credited with 3 RBIs and an over the fence
homer. Gage Berry and Vega also had 1 RBI each. In the QAB (quality at bats) category,
Witcher got 3, Levi Geagley 3 and Vega 2. When the game was over, Lampasas
beat Killeen High 9-2.

Garrett Witcher, above, watched this one soar over the left center field fence as he left home plate for a run around the bases. The baseball is the tiny dot at the top of the picture. Find out about the tournament and this weeks district play with the Coach Shane Doege Badger
