Lady Badger Softball is amazing. The girls went 1-1 in their first day of the La Grange tournament. They beat Hallettesville, then lost to Hendrickson on Thursday in a game that was just a letdown for the Lady Badgers.

They came back in fine fashion Friday to beat Victoria West 7-3, taking them to a game with the Champion La Grange Lady Leopards. That one went back and forth in a tough fight that wound up with the Lady Badgers losing it 5-6 in the last inning. The girls faced what Coach Cleavinger called “some very good hitters who proved why they are the defending state champs!” On the other hand, she says, “we had some great hits of our own. Kloe Corbin had a home run and Blakeli Brookreson had an in the park HR.” Collyn Schuricht went to the 4th inning with 4 strikeouts, relieved by Cally Reding.

Today the Lady Badgers are back to face Corsicana and Haysin the final day of the tournament with games at 11:30am and 3:30pm.

The Badger Varsity Baseball team is in a six team tournament in Copperas Cove. They had a good day on Thursday, beating Academy 8-0, but Friday was not so good with the team facing LBJ Johnson City and turning in a less-than what they’d hoped for performance. They lost to Johnson City 2-3 in a game that saw them ahead by 2 then blow the lead.  That takes them to day three today when they play at 11:30am, based on the outcome of an earlier 9am game. They may then go on to play in either the 3rd place game or the Championship game.

Lady Badger Soccer had a great game against Gateway Prep, winning it in an overtime shootout 2-1to stay alive in the playoff run.

Boys JV Soccer beat Gatesville 3-1 Friday evening.
