The District Champion Lampasas Badgers will play their first playoff game tonight at Hutto at 7pm. Their opponents are the Caldwell Hornets, the 4th place team in district 20, which is the district east of here.
Coach Rob Shivers told us in an interview yesterday that district 20 generally puts some really good teams on the floor. The district champion there is Navasota, a team he says is really good. The Badgers were practicing yesterday, during the school holiday, to get ready for the game. Coach Shivers points out that his team is not only made up of pretty talented players, they are also a well grounded team that knows what they need to do and they plan to win. Tonight’s game will be broadcast over KCYL 1450AM and over the internet at lampasasradio.com.
Lady Badger Softball was lucky with no games scheduled yesterday or today after problematic rainfall on ball fields in the area. Their next game will be on Thursday when they travel to LaGrange for a three day tournament. Around the district we notice that Llano did get to play on Monday but they lost it big to Fredericksburg, 3-11. We notice that Liberty Hill has so far lost only one game, that to Cedar Ridge. They have two ties and six wins in pre-season and look to be one of Lampasas big competitors in district.
Badger Baseball was to play yesterday evening at Gatesville. That game was canceled because of wet fields and we expect to get a decision this morning on whether or not that game will be played this evening instead. It could be played on either field, we’ll let you know as soon as we find out. The Badger versus Gatesville baseball game will be played here at home at 7:00PM!
