Car Burglar Caught With Stolen Weapons

Lampasas Police Department took a burglary of a motor vehicle report in the 1000 block of Cloud Street on 01/29/2017. The victim reported numerous items taken from the vehicle to include firearms. This included two handguns and two rifles. One of which was an AR-15.

On 01/30/2017 the Police Department received information that led to a suspect identified as Anthony Martinez, a 19 year old male. Officers were able to locate Martinez and did take him into custody without incident during a traffic stop. Martinez was charged with possession of marijuana and with further cooperation was able to gain consent to a search of Martinez’s residence. During the search Officers recovered two of the stolen weapons reported by the victim. Further investigation developed a second address located in the City of Lampasas where the AR-15 was recovered.

Investigators did charge Martinez with theft of a firearm and are currently still investigating leads in hopes of recovering a fourth firearm as well as further property.
