Running Badger Boys Basketball will be off until Friday, when they host Leander Glenn in Badger Gym.
The Badgers (13-2) are rated by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches as the number 18 team in state 4A right now, based on their 13-2 overall record. No other district team is on the top 25 list, yet they are picked to be number 4 in our district.
The Badgers are 1-0 in district play, along with Salado and Burnet. Their Friday meeting with (0-1) Leander Glenn will be their second district game.
Pre-season expectations were that the district order would be Liberty Hill, Burnet, Taylor and Lampasas, however Burnet beat Taylor by a large margin in their district match, and Salado beat Glenn recently, also by a large margin. Liberty Hill (19-1) has yet to play a district game. They will play Taylor tonight. By the time this week is over, the district standings should look a little different.
Lampasas Lady Badger basketball took it on the chin yesterday at Canyon Lake 38 to 49. The JV also lost, 28-51. The varsity team is now 11-12 on the season and 2-1 in district.
High varsity scorers were Alexis Theus and Diane Hurst with a dozen points each, followed by Morgann Shroeder with 5.
Next up for the girls will be Leander Glenn on Friday in a district game. District leaders so far appear to be Liberty Hill, Taylor and Lampasas with Glenn at the bottom.
Lometa Hornet Basketball will see action with their High School teams at Blanket today. On Thursday, the Junior High teams will be at Priddy. And again on Friday, the High School teams will play with Zephyr at Lometa.
