Lampasas Badger Boys Basketball team now stands distinctively at the top of the 4A Region III District 19 basketball program after beating Salado 46-36 Friday night to round out the first half of the district basketball season.

High scorer in that game was Kyle Sims with 12, Daniel Hurst with 10, Tyler Shivers and Jason Murphy both had 7.

They are 6-0 in district with Burnet behind at 5-1 and Liberty Hill trails them at 4-2 after losing to Burnet 57-54 last Friday.

District standings now look like this:

Lampasas 6-0

Burnet 5-1

Liberty Hill 4-2

Taylor 3-3

Salado 2-4

Leander Glenn 1-5

Llano 0-6

Lampasas will play again on Tuesday when they once again play Coach Aaron Nuckles Llano team.

That game will be in Badger Gym at 6:30pm.

Lampasas Lady Badger Basketball (2-6)lost to Salado 24-44 last Friday and meet Llano in the second round of District play on Tuesday at 8pm in Badger Gym. High Scorers on Friday were Abby Martin and Morgann Schroeder with 6 and Presli Procter with 5.

The Lometa Hornets are still undefeated in district basketball, way ahead of the pack, after beating Gustine Friday, 53-20. They now go into the second round of Region III, District 19 play on Tuesday with a 7:30 or 8pm game against theSidney Eagles at Sidney.

Lometa Lady Hornets Basketball will play Sidney at around 5-6pm at Sidney on Tuesday.

Lampasas Badger Boy’s Soccer went 1-1 at the Canyon Lake games last week. They are in district play on Tuesday with Leander Glenn.

Lady Badger Soccer had to forfeit their first game Saturday against Azle in the Stephenville tournament because of a bus breakdown and late arrival. They went up against Stephenville then and lost 0-7 and went on to play in the consolation match against Azle. They were tied at the end of regulation time at 1-1 and went into a shootout where they lost on the 8th kicker.

Next up is Leander Glenn, at home, at 5:30pm Tuesday.

Lady Badger Softball started practice on Friday under new Head Coach Drew Cleavinger. Their first action will be a scrimmage on Jan. 30th at Stephenville. Their first game will be against softball legend LaGrange on Feb. 6th.

Badger Baseball is also practicing. Their first scrimmage will be at Killeen Ellison on Feb. 7th and first game at Gatesville on Feb. 20th
