Local High School Sports

Badger Football (1-4) continues to work on its game during this "open date" week. They will meet the Gatesville Hornets (3-2) on October 7th.

The Lometa Hornets (3-2) won their road game last week over Summit Christian Academy and will travel to Sidney to play the (0-3) Sidney Eagles on Friday at 7:30pm.

Lady Badger Volleyball was at Burnet yesterday and Coach Denise Ponder reports that the team "competed hard despite the adversity that was handed to us (2 players out sick). We did the best we could with what we had."

The team lost in 3 sets to the Lady Bulldogs, 12-25, 7-25 and 21-25. Leaders in the match were Rylee Davis with 6 kills, Rylee had 11 digs and Monica Garza had 4. Taylor Moore had 1 ace and Rylee Davis had 1, while Victoria Martinez had 1 assist.

The 9th Grade team also lost to Burnet 9-25 and 17-25. Coach Drew Cleavinger says the team played hard and implemented some new things. She says they "definitely getting better."

Lampasas Middle School Volleyball is looking forward to a tournament next weekend as well as the second round of district play.

Badger Cross Country is on the road at Old Settler’s park in Round Rock Saturday, October 1st.

LMS Cross country travels to Marble Falls High School today for a meet.

Lampasas Badger Varsity Tennis is 2-0 in district, and goes to Burnet on Thursday the 29th with matches beginning at 4pm. Coach Kenneth Peiser said that Burnet recently fell to both Taylor and Liberty Hill 10-0 because they were unable to fill a team, but still want to play. The Badgers appear to headed for another District Championship.

JV Tennis played Copperas Cove at home on Tuesday, with some freshmen that were playing JV for the first time. The Badgers won that match 18-1. Coach Peiser said, "The whole team played well tonight."

Peiser said they would be back to "play Cove's first JV team in about 3 weeks and then hit 3 tournaments."
