The Lampasas Badgers will head for Canyon Lake this evening for a 7pm game. The early game, says Coach Troy Rogers, shorts the team on a little practice time, but they'll be ready to go this evening in their first road game. Canyon Lake has some big and tall size boys up front. It is a Slot-T offensive team and seem to depend on running the ball.
Lampasas Middle School Football 7 th & 8th grade A & B teams played at Badger Stadium yesterday afternoon. The 8th grade A team won 6-0 as Peyton Underwood hit Lane Havilland on a 40 yard TD pass. The 8th grade B lost 6-14, but the game highlighted Landon Mulcahy's 37 yarder pass to Cody Hinson.
Lampasas Badger Freshman & JV Football teams were rolling on last night on Badger Field. The freshman won against the Canyon Lake Hawks 19-8. The defense played a stellar game with the Hawks lone score coming late in the game. Isaiah Rhodes started the night off right with a big interception early in the game. The offense had a great drive down the field capped off by a pass from Rascoe to Everts for 18 yards. Everts kicked the extra point to make it 7-0. The next score was a tough, 34 yard pounding run by Koby Allen. the scoring on the evening was rounded out by Jason Andrews on a 70 yard TD run.
The Badgers Freshmen record is now 2-2-1 with their next game against district opponent, Gatesville Hornets. The JV Badger Football team got their first win of the season. The defense absolutely suffocated the Hawks, causing four turnovers. Dylan Alpha had two exciting interceptions for the Badgers. The first TD of the night was a run by Mason Steele with great blocking from Jimel Drayton and Asiel Gary to make it 6-0. The next score was in the third quarter on a 1 yard sneak by Jon Davis which followed a long reception by Owen Davis. Qadir Tolliver caught a 65 yard TD reception from Jon Davis with the extra point made by Matt Cortez. The last TD of the night came on a 35 yard run by Giovani Bienbenu and the Extra Point made it 26-8. Great job Badgers!!
Lady Badger Volleyball was up against Austin Akin on the road in their Tuesday outing. They lost 19-25, 13-25 and 14-25. Rylee Davis and Diane Hurst had 3 kills each and Diane Hurst had 2. Taylor Moore had 4 aces and Diane Hurst had 3. Abigail Martin had 8 assists. The team will play Leander Glenn on Friday at home. The JV team, according to Coach Kiff Wiemers, put up a good fight but also came up short 8-25 and 14-25. Coach Drew Cleavinger reports the 9th grade team also lost to Akins, 22-25 and 22-25. The Lometa Hornets, coming off a homecoming win over the Morgan Eagles will go up against Sumitt Christian, on the road, on Friday with a kickoff at 7:30pm
