What's Going On?

Notes from around town...

The Lampasas Chamber of Commerce is having its "Thrive at Five" member mixer this afternoon from 5 to 7pm at Texas Real Estate Sales at 1902-A Hwy 281 S.

Perception Creative Arts is seeking artists, and registering now for fall classes for budding artists. The seeking artists part has to do with a juried art show hosted by the art school on November 12th. The timeline for work to begin on the piece for the contest is Sept. 10th, so go by the studio at 415 E 3rd to find out more.

Getting ready for Labor Day sees some planning a trip or outing. TxDOT and local lawmen remind that you can't drink and drive, even if you're driving a boat in one of the area lakes. You can get a DWI there too. Actually, one of the biggest dangers for all of us these days is the cell phone or tablet in the car. Statistics show it's the newest, biggest problem on the streets and highways. Please be careful!

If you wanna picnic, and have a leaning toward the Democratic Party way of looking at things, you'd probably enjoy and be enlightened at the Annual Labor Day Picnic at the Pavilion on the Hancock Park Golf Course. It's put on by the Democratic Women's Association of Lampasas and includes a big feed, along with a good old fashioned cake auction and plenty of political stumping by various Democratic Candidates and/or their spokespersons for State and National Offices.

And, we are all very much aware of the upcoming November Election. If you want to be able to cast your ballot, you have to register. The last day to register to vote for the November election is October 11th. You have to check your wallet or wherever you keep important cards and make sure your voter registration card is there and up to date. If not - get to the County Office and take care of it now. Early Voting begins on October 24th.
