Hay producers have the opportunity to get their hay tested through the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension of Burnet, Lampasas and Llano Counties.
Producers wanting to get their hay tested through this campaign will need to contact their county agent and then drop off a small sample of their hay at the Extension Office no later than September 12. For Lampasas County Residents, please contact the Lampasas County Office at 512-556-8271.
The hay samples will be sent off to the Texas A&M Forage Testing Lab for an analysis. The Cost of the hay analysis will be $5 per sample and the results will be provided to the producer at the Central Texas Hay Production Workshop.
A program offering CEU’s will be provided to those who hold a Private Applicators License for $25.00. Specialists from around the state will be attending to present educational topics in their field of expertise. Program discussion topics will address a Laws and Regulations Updates; Importance of Fertilizer Timing, Hay Test and Soil Testst; Use of Prescribed Fire on Hay Fields; a Dow Chemical Product Update and Developing a Winter Feeding/Grazing Plan.
The Central Texas Hay Production Workshop will be held Thursday, October 20 at the Burnet County Fair Barn. A barbecue dinner will begin at 6:30 pm for participants.
