Lampasas County Commissioners met yesterday at 9am for their regular session, with Judge Wayne Boultinghouse, Precinct 2 Commissioner Jim Lindeman and Precinct 4 Commissioner Mark Rainwater present for a quorum. An order declaring vacancy of office of Precinct 1 Commissioner was read by Judge Wayne Boultinghouse, and then the Judge’s appointment for Precinct 1 Commissioner was received by Robert “Bobby” Carroll, who then read his oath of office.
An update on Lampasas County Higher Education Center was presented by new LCHEC Director Derrick Berrios, and then commissioners approved a request for a depository bid.
In an item concerning the property tax rate for 2016-17, a public hearing will take place on September 14 at 6:30pm, followed by a second public hearing September 19 at 6:30pm and another public hearing to adopt the budget on September 19 at 7pm.
Employee dental insurance for the county through MetLife was approved to continue, as was a county grant for Hill Country Community Action in the amount of $6,199 to go into the new budget that will begin October 1.
Commissioners then approved to match City of Lampasas funds of $1,250 to implement a young 1st Tee golf program at the Boys and Girls Club. As for an item concerning custodial cleaning contracts, it was approved to revisit the item at the next meeting on September 12 after more information is produced over the cost for hiring a full or part time employee for maintenance and custodial work.
