District Judge John Gauntt’s court met last Friday with 23 cases on the docket. 14 of them were drug cases with 8 cases of possession of a controlled substance PG1, which is usually meth, cocaine or heroin. 5 of the drug cases were for heavier amounts and one of them for manufacture or delivery of the drug and another for transporting the chemicals used in making drugs.
There was one DWI case, an assault on a family member and other misc. cases of theft or burglary.
One of the theft cases was against Johnathan Devalle of Palatine Il for theft of property worth 30 to 150 thousand dollars. Devalle was given two yrs deferred adjudication probation and a $1,000 fine plus court costs and attorney fees.
The balance of the cases were reset for future dates with some scheduled for jury trials.
