New Lampasas Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Troy Rogers was in our studio this morning and discussed both his background and the upcoming season for the Lampasas Badgers. Most of the coaching staff at Lampasas High School appears to be new, with several new head coaches and assistants. Coach Rogers is a 1994 graduate of Lampasas High School. He was a star quarterback with passing records that were pretty amazing. His head coach back in those years was Rod Hess. Coach Rogers expects to bring some excitement into Badger football as he and staff will “open up” the game with lots more passing.

It will not be easy for the Badgers this year , as in last, principally because we are in a really tough district. La Vega finished last season as the 4A state champion. China Spring, says Rogers, will be nipping at La Vega’s heels, as will Liberty Hill. Lampasas, Gatesville and Robinson will have to earn their way into the competition. Troy Rogers says that’s what they plan to do, and have fun along the way because, “Any way you look at it, football is fun.” Results are in for the Britches & Bows Golf Tournament that played out Saturday and Sunday at Hancock Park.
