July 14, 2016 (Killeen, Texas) – Approximately 500 healthcare professionals and volunteers will operate a no-cost medical and dental clinic in Killeen today and tomorrow. Approximately $1 million in free health-related services will be offered to non-insured and underinsured residents of Killeen at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.
Free on-site services include primary care visits, women’s health services, including pap smears, consultation by medical specialists, including health-risk evaluations, gastroenterology, ENT, general and orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, podiatry services, pediatric immunizations, dental services, including fillings, extractions, dental cleanings, medication assistance, eyeglass fittings and examinations, STD screenings, medical massages, physical therapy, speech and occupational therapy, x-rays, ultrasound, laboratory services, haircuts, chaplaincy services and a free meal for those who are in the building during the noon hour.
The clinic's services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis with no insurance and no identification required. It runs from 7am – 4:30pm today and from 7am – noon Friday.
The event is organized by Jumpstart Free Health Clinic, powered by Your Best Pathway to Health, a service of Adventist-Laymen’s Services & Industries (ASI), in partnership with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Adventist Health System, Southwestern Adventist University, and other entities. Jumpstart Free Health Clinic is co-sponsored by the City of Killeen, Metroplex Hospital, the Southwestern Union of Seventh-day Adventists, Dodge Country and other local businesses and entities.
