Tuesday morning at Lampasas County District Courtroom a newly appointed Sheriff was sworn in. County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse (below right) swears in new Sheriff Jess Ramos.
Ramos served some years as a Texas Ranger and retired here, then began work as an investigator for an area police department, then recently became the Republican Party nominee for Lampasas County Sheriff. He had no opposition in that primary, and there is none for the General Election in November. That made him an easy pick as an appointee to serve out the last few months of Sheriff David Whitis' term when Whitis opted to resign early and pursue another path in his life.
Jess Ramos' Sheriff's badge, made from a Mexican gold coin, was pinned on his chest by his wife, Rebecca, as daughter Jessyn looked on.
