There will be some coaching changes for the 2016-17 school year at Lampasas High School, as a few coaches depart from the school district.
Baseball: Shane Doege is coming to LHS from Hutto, where, as an assistant coach, he helped the Hippos to a share of the District 17-5A championship.
Doege has been a coach for 16 years and has had teams qualify for playoffs 13 times. He has been head coach at Hillsboro, Covington and Wortham.
He will come to Lampasas as the 5th head baseball coach in 7 years, as Manny Perez leaves for Pearland.
Softball: Drew Cleavinger will be replacing Chris Munoz as head softball coach for the 2016-17 school year at LHS, and she will be the Lady Badgers’ 5th head coach in 8 years.
Cleavinger is leaving her hometown of Coahoma, where she has spent a year as head softball coach. She also led Comanche in 2015 to the state semifinals.
As a player in Coahoma, she helped her team get to the state tournament 3 times.
Volleyball: Denise Ponder, 6-year assistant volleyball coach at Killeen, will step in as head volleyball coach for LHS this coming school year. She will be replacing Jenny Bowden Roberts, head basketball coach, who filled in last year as head volleyball coach as well.
Jenny Bowden Roberts will continue in her post as head basketball coach.
