On October 31, 2016 at 8:16 pm, Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office and Lometa Police Dept. were notified of an accident involving a seven year old female child while trick-or treating in Lometa.
The child was on a trailer, pulled by a pickup truck, with several other children that were trick-or-treating. The child, identified as Rubi Isabel Davila, fell off and was run over by the trailer.
The child’s parents were accompanying their daughter at the time of the accident. They immediately transported her to Lampasas’ Rollins Brook Hospital in their personal vehicle and the child succumbed there to internal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at 10:55pm by Lampasas County Justice of the Peace Andrew Garcia and an autopsy was requested.
The child and parents are residents of San Saba, and were visiting other family members in Lometa. The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Lometa Police with the on-going investigation.
The Lampasas Fire Dept. has set up a fund at the National Bank of Lampasas in the family’s name, Davila, to assist with expenses the family will incur after their recent unfortunateaccident and loss.
