Looking Into Weekend

"Jammin" Herb and Art Fest Planned

The 22nd Annual Herb and Art Fest should keep most area residents and lots of visitors to town busy all day Saturday.

It kicks off at 10am with three stages of music events, a Wine and Beer Garden, a Food Truck Competition, scores of arts and crafts vendors, children's activities and a Sculpture Dedication for the late Reid Schaub.

Reid Schaub made huge contributions to our town. He was the universal everyman's funeral preacher, go-to volunteer musician with a big family of the same to help out, and most notably, he was a well known guitar and mandolin maker. A fitting sculpture will be dedicated to him at 3:30pm.

On stage bands include the 10am Dazed and Confused duo. The Elderly Brothers will follow, then at 2pm the Lampasas Radio stage will feature a Houston based blues act, "The Mighty Orq". Following the Reid Schaub dedication, Roland Schaub and band will kick off the final show.

For a fun Saturday evening the outdoor types might want to head for Inks Lake State Park off Hwy 29. At 7pm, for a $3 fee, they'll furnish boats and paddles for a guided "Sunset Paddle" around the lake area and its little coves.
