With great sadness the family of Lillie Jane Sprinkles Gipson lost their mother after a short illness. She passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2016 at the age of 86, at her home in Kempner, surrounded by her family.
Lillie was born to Emily Mae and Sam Houston Sprinkles in a tent at an oil field drilling site near Pampa, Texas in 1930. She was the fifth child of nine and grew up and graduated High School in Novice,Texas.
She met and married Sammy Cude in 1952 while working at Mercer's Boot and Saddle Shop in San Angelo, then later married her second husband S/Sgt Charlie A. Gipson when he was home from the Korean War on Hometown Recruiter duty.
This was the beginning of a world wide adventure that took them to his military assignments here in the U.S., as well as to Turkey and Germany.
After Charlie's retirement in 1972 the couple came to Copperas Cove and then finally settled in Kempner. Along the way there were children, and a good life, and Charlie's eventual passing.
Lillie is survived by two sisters and three brothers; children Sammy Cude of Kempner, Tx, Charlie A.Gipson II of Tampa, Fla, John Gipson of Beckville, Tx, Walter Gipson of Sandia, Tx, Susan Cox of Waco, Patrick Gipson of Pearland, William Gipson of Copperas Cove and Amanda Gipson of Rota, Spain. She has 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Lillie has continued to help others by donating her body to the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School. The family only requests thoughts and prayers. At a later date, internment will be at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery with her husband, Charlie.
