Ronnie Witcher reported that, as he saw it...
"The Harlem Wizards Basketball team, now in their 54th season, are arriving in Lampasas today to likely take advantage of a rag-tag team of Lampasas teachers, coaches & community members. Including Lampasas Police Officer Warren Scott, and Lampasas businessmen Russell Dixon, Derreck Eckermann, and Pepper Procter and others. The Wizards are skilled, practice-a-lot, players who keep themselves in shape with razor edge reflexes. "Our team" is, well, we hope for the best.
Not that the locals don't stay in shape, we saw a couple of them walking around their block last week - one of them being dragged along by a small dog. We heard that another had pushed away the last half of their donut at Mr. Kim's on Monday, saying he was 'in training.' This Lampasas attempt to blunt the Wizard's winning streak is nonetheless a valiant effort, a crusade we say, and will certainly be met with cheers and urgings-on by an appreciative local crowd as they enter the coliseum that is Badger Gym. - Good Luck!"
The event is a fundraiser for the Lampasas Lady Badger Basketball Team. Tip-off will be at 6:30pm with doors opening at 5:30pm.
